What’s going on!? Where are you!??

This is just an announcement of sorts, The “Traveling Donkey Show’ is still happening…

no-way-really-

So why the silence?

Well, that’s because we haven’t officially started yet.

This time last year I was learning how to build this website. Even with WordPress, it was a bit more than imagined it would be. My skills in graphic design and coding were minuscule to non existent at best, but I trucked on and I now have the knowledge to launch when opportunity sees fit.

So why not launch now?

I won’t be launching until I’ve finished losing weight and have my health on the right track. I’m 60 pounds down with 60 more to go. It’s a lot harder to lose here in America, but I’m managing it, albeit slowly.

10701961_908323995862227_2001873915974870779_n (1)

The test posts we have done were successful enough, but I have to make sure I can keep up with what I have planned for the show.

During this severe time of hunger I am taking it upon myself to further hone my skills in graphic and video work and I have also been making connections in the Philippines while learning the primary language of the country.

We continue to grow on Facebook daily though, and we haven’t stopped marketing our brand. Rest assured, we aren’t dead in the water.

From A Male Victim Of Domestic Violence. (Why I Stayed)

With all the talk of Ray Rice I figured this would be a good opportunity to say a few words.

It seems that many are forgetting that men are abused as well, or simply don’t care. If you don’t then you should, over two-thirds of abusers in domestic abuse cases are women. A rough 70% according to a Harvard Study.

I realize this is completely unrelated to traveling, but it is also a subject that pertains to my life, which this blog happens to be a byproduct of.

You see, I gave up my dreams to travel due to a girl that emotionally and physically abused me. It wasn’t just me that suffered either… my bank account was also abused. All the money I had put aside was spent on her and  I ended up in debt after the purchase of an engagement ring. I gave up my life and my money and to this day I’m still paying my family back for what I had borrowed.

bzj26

It was only a short time ago that I got myself out of the horrible cycle that was our relationship and began traveling the world.

As one might assume, this was all quite horrible and honestly I wouldn’t wish my experiences on anyone.

I have emasculating memories of crying almost nightly. I ended up addicted to benzos just to deal with my situation and even ended up in the hospital due to an overdose before I came to my senses.

Why I stayed‬ – Because I believed that was as good as it got, for me.

Why I left – Sometimes having nothing is better than having something.

It’s not often you see men the victim of abuse, or see them talking about it when they are, but I’m not ashamed to admit that I was. It can happen to anyone.

While it was mostly emotional abuse that I suffered.. in one situation, I was punched in the face, before being threatened with a knife and a razor blade. All before being made to look like the villain because of my gender.

What’s funny about domestic violence is that when a man fights back against it, he’s not considered a victim any longer, he’s considered the one that’s being abusive. Society says he has to sit back and accept it. Sexist to be sure. Entitlement really degrades both genders.

fuck+equal+rights_e787f2_3966020

I’m not going to get into my story right now as this isn’t the place for my dirty laundry. However, If I get enough interest I will consider posting it.

Let me tell you though, that it doesn’t matter your gender or the reasons why it happened. Don’t let being the victim of someone else turn you into your own victim.

Today, after a year of running back to who had been hurting me, I run my own life. 9 months later, I’m finally free of that addiction.

For those stuck in abusive relationships who don’t feel there is a way out. Talk to someone who understands or can help.

Talk to me if you have to. I’ve been there. You can contact me here.

The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich (Expanded and Updated) (New York City: Harmony Books, 2009)

This is the book that started my journey. Introduced to me by a business partner, who believed enough in what the book had to say to send me a copy.

I trusted his recommendation not just because he had made himself wealthy or the unbelievable people that he hangs around with, but because he is also a friend. I guess hanging out in his penthouse suite at the yacht club overlooking Miami didn’t hurt my motivation either.

I always knew growing up that I didn’t want the horrible fate of a 9-5 job that so many around me just accepted as an inevitability. Had it not been for The 4-Hour Workweek, I probably never would have thought my dreams were achievable outside of some miracle.

I wouldn’t be traveling the world doing what I love. No, I’d be stuck behind a desk somewhere drooling into a telephone wondering if doughnuts were elephants or if i could smell the color purple.

All the while someone on the other line would be wondering why i can’t help them with THEIR problems.

Thankfully, that is not my life today.

You may see this book touted quite frequently on the internet, often recommended by others who have also made their dreams a reality. There is a reason for that. It’s because it works, or rather, the advice is good enough to change your life if applied properly.

People have asked me how they too can travel and fulfill their dreams.

Well, outside of having truly supportive family and friends, the thing that helped me the most was a book. This book.

Some of my friends that I have met along the way, are actually featured in the book and while it might not cover everything we had to go through or learn to get to where we are now… it’s a great start.

Why The Ice Bucket Challenge Is Stupid

Let’s face it… success is relative, and for me the Ice Bucket Challenge has failed in more areas than it succeeded.

ice-bucket-challenge-meme

Its biggest success was showing that people were shallower than the buckets of water they were dumping on their heads.

That they were doing was extremely dangerous as these people could easily drown in a puddle of water.

If there is one thing I’ve been made aware of, it’s that.

I just want ONE person to do this and to say “I don’t give a fuck about ALS, I’m just doing it because everyone else is”

Is it so much to ask people to be honest?

The idea is that if you don’t pour a bucket of ice water on your head you have to donate to the ALS Charity, though many of them still donating and giving themselves a pat on the back.

I think the amount of money raised is fantastic even though only a fraction actually goes towards the cause. I also think the reasons on why are superficial and say a lot about humanity. Frankly I’m embarrassed for us all.

I currently live in a third world country, where clean water is harder to come by than in America and awareness comes as simply as walking down the street.

10603708_465585876916635_8660538301963160587_n
I could easily stand on a Chinese made soap box and spit on those here with my golden American saliva, but I live among them.

This is what I choose.

I spend time helping them, giving them money, feeding them, spending time with them and learning their languages.

It’s easy to judge the world when you spend your time in it, and today I am full of judgment.

Many people here in the Philippines from what I have gathered, think the ice bucket challenge is ridiculously stupid, though its popularity is rising as the media exchanges coverage for ratings.

53676316

Perhaps there is awareness to be had outside of our self absorption.

How trivial this all is. To live in our egocentric bubbles, wasting what many are dying because they lack, to help a small few.

Hell, a majority of these people still don’t know what ALS is.

As said on Facebook,

“When you consider the countless A-list celebrities who have actively gotten behind this cause by posting videos– the fact that not more than fifteen million dollars has been raised is a tragedy. It’s tragic because I don’t think many of those celebrities even bothered to mention how or where to donate money for ALS research. Most of them just poured water over their heads and named three random people, without including any “call to action” which actually benefits victims of ALS at all. Had all those celebrities given this cause any thought, hundreds of millions of dollars might have been raised, and a whole lot more awareness. Let’s start a new trend– by actually letting people know how to donate.” ~ Steve-O

Awareness comes from education, and of course no one is bothering to educate themselves beyond learning that they like attention.

The videos that are supposedly spreading awareness?

They don’t mention ALS. They don’t mention what it is, or even where to donate.

It’s clear that the purpose of these videos are NOT to spread awareness. ALS is not the reason people are doing this. Plain and simple.

Simply hearing the letters ALS doesn’t spread awareness and neither does seeing videos that don’t attempt to teach.

It gets people on an uneducated bandwagon, doing good for the sake of, “look at me”.

23ebb088f482871835ad55003ed7ea42f7e86e8314bb3b373c61472d552c13e4

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a poster boy for attention seekers but I don’t pretend to be a good person to get the attention that I crave.

A few people may jump on to Google to find out what the fuss is about and perhaps kudos to them, for doing something they could have done a long time ago.

At the time of writing this a quick Google search for ALS brings up the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge as the first result. People are more interested in the Challenge than ALS itself.

Most people will not go throughout life without hearing about ALS in their lifetime, their unawareness is simply disinterest.

You really think these people care about important issues?

Let’s use this alternative as an example

ALS affects about 30,000 Americans total, while malaria kills about 600,000 people per year, mostly African children.

12

Do you think anyone here is unaware of how many people die in Africa due to disease and starvation? No, everyone knows. How many people care? Not many. Is it because of a lack of awareness? No, it’s because there isn’t some stupid fad with an ice bucket to make it interesting.

Mark my words, and this is a promise. In a years’ time – no one will give two fucks about ALS. Society will be on to the next bandwagon.

Whether it be the latest celebrity dying, or the next gimmick. People simply will not care unless they have a self-centered reason for doing so.

THIS is America, and it’s not changing.  This is what we need to fix.

424398_370134123014553_1191004029_n2

I was tested for ALS last year. I knew all about it well before any of this. Hell, I knew about it before I got tested.

I didn’t need a bucket to educate myself on this, I didn’t need my friends jumping on a bandwagon to reach it either.

Self-Interest is NOT ALS-Interest.

That being said, How easy is to become aware of important issues?

Let Me Google That For You: Charities and Causets

Let’s spread some real awareness here while we are at it.

What is ALS?

Where Can I Donate?

It’s really all about perspective, and while some good has come from this, is it worth watching our society decline?

Sad fact is , while we may have been successful at raising money, we are failing as human beings.

How Sex Tourism Is Ruining The Philippines

I’ve never paid for sex, and living here on Boracay that makes me feel like I am in the minority among the other foreign men living on the island. At the risk of generalizing a bit, it seems like they have all had their hands in the metaphorical honey pot and even had their hands in the prostitutes themselves.

52191531

I’ve been here on this island for two months (but in the Philippines for much longer) and the expats that I have talked to about this all have their rationalizations on why prostitution is OK, or why they themselves partake in the buying of another individual for an evening of sexual favors.

It’s not for a lack of interest or understanding that I haven’t participated myself. Back home in America, casual sex is quite common. Quite often you can meet a girl in a club and take her home at the end of the night.

It happens all the time and of course that was part of my life as well. I’ve been with some beautiful women in my time, and I’m not ashamed of it in the slightest. I’m not proud either; it’s just the way it is.

The difference is that unlike prostitution, there’s no exchange of money. To be honest, there’s really no expectations at all.

A typical meeting of genitals is more about a connection you have with someone than what you can give that person in the means of material possessions. We have prostitutes, sure…but you really have to go out of your way to find them.

Here, without a doubt, they will find you.

If-you-force-sex-on-a-prostitute-Is-it-rape-or-shoplifting

When I first arrived here, I was tempted to call Boracay “Prostitute Island”, even though I was well aware that many other areas in SE Asia and the Philippines are much worse off in these regards. To someone new to traveling though, it came as quite a shock to find that most of the girls I was meeting were indeed “ladies of the night”.

It’s not that I think there is anything inherently wrong with prostitution, on the contrary – what a woman does with her body is or should be her choice after all. That being said, it IS illegal, but let’s be honest, that’s never stopped many people from doing or getting what they want. Hell, several of my friends here are indeed prostitutes themselves. I do think however that being a top destination for sex tourism has its downfalls.

Boracay isn’t the thriving mecca of prostitution that, say, Angeles City or other areas in SE Asia are… but we still see its effects. Slowly but surely sex tourism is destroying this beautiful and wonderful country. You might be surprised of the reasons why though. It’s not the fact that prostitution exists. It’s the people that it brings over.

Surely you have encountered them, those who many Filipinos affectionately refer to as the “matandang mayaman madaling mamatay” which translates into, “Old, Rich, and Soon to Die”.

844

You can expect to find them throughout the country. White, bald, overweight and a failed marriage or two. This is a stereotype of course, as sex tourists come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, but behind every stereotype is some truth.

What is most shocking to me is that these men seem to be living in a country that they don’t like, spending time with women they neither respect nor trust. As if they themselves were any more trustworthy. Spoiler Alert:  They aren’t.

It takes one look on the Philippine-based mongering forums to see the kind this industry is attracting.

These men are typically unhappy and jaded, bitter towards something or everything in their lives and most damaging of all… they ruin the good name of the Philippines.

I’m here in the Philippines because I love it here, they are here because… hey, cheap sex! That’s the impression I get, and it’s not like I’m grabbing at straws to come to this conclusion either.

Outside of a new American military base this is the last thing the Philippines needs.

My first conversation with a sex tourist went like this,

“Let me tell you something about these Filipinas.”

“What’s that?” I replied

“If their lips are moving, they are lying.”

I scoffed. I had experienced a lot of dishonesty here, as with poverty comes problems… but I have also met a lot of wonderful people that I would be willing to trust my life with.

quote-you-may-be-deceived-if-you-trust-too-much-but-you-will-live-in-torment-if-you-don-t-trust-enough-frank-crane-440802

I guess maybe he hadn’t considered that it’s harder to find people to trust in the crowds that he associates with.

He also had no room to talk about trust, as he would point out women that he had slept with, and tell in explicit detail what they did for him. If he is anything like the others then he probably has no issues sharing nude photos or videos of his exploits with others.

These girls have families, and a lot of the time don’t want everyone to know what they do for fear of it getting back to someone they care about. Yet you can find pictures and videos of many of these girls online.

How can you expect to trust others when you yourself cannot be trusted?

With further conversation it was clear that he had absolutely nothing nice to say about the girls he had been with and just as many awful things to say about the Filipino people in general.

It doesn’t stop at defamation either. When I asked about STD’s such as herpes…

“Who cares about herpes?”

“Well, I do,” I said.

“It appears for a few days and then goes away and you can only get it when it’s visible.”

7jca3

At this point I’m just trying my hardest not to take him back to school to get an education, but I just let him talk as he seemed rather amused by his own anecdotes of stupidity.

Let me clarify something for everyone else though…  Herpes is most contagious during a time called viral shedding. Nothing is visible during this time and condoms aren’t necessarily going to protect you from it. A good visual inspection does not mean you are in the clear

Furthermore, if you do have herpes, you have an ethical obligation to tell anyone you might be sleeping with that you have it, and it’s actually a legal obligation where I come from.

Many are not well educated with info about sexually transmitted diseases here, and hence you will find a lot of guys having sex with these girls without protection because, “Why not?”

Aside from the fact that I can think of a lot of reasons “why not”, if this just stopped in prostitution town I wouldn’t care too much. However, these guys will hop on dating sites, and go to local stores and convince and/or trick girls into sleeping with them.

Never mind that they were just with 3 prostitutes the other day without protection.

They don’t mind, and it’s not because they don’t know they are doing something wrong, something that wouldn’t be approved of if these girls knew what they were doing either.

Many will go out of their way to deliberately hide what they do, they will insinuate that they are looking for something more and lie just so one more person will sleep with them.

So ultimately this effects more than just prostitutes and those involved in that so-called hobby.

It’s affecting your children and your families, because they don’t care what happens to who as long as they get laid.

8iem8

Why pay for sex in the first place? Well, I asked that too. Apparently paying for sex is much cheaper than dating a girl.

Last time I checked, casual sex between two consenting adults costs nothing. The girls that I’ve slept with back home and here were more than willing to sleep with me because they were attracted to me. Ironically enough, these so-called men are STILL buying these girls drinks and dinner on top of paying for the sex, which eliminates their whole reasoning behind it being cheaper.

Yes, perhaps money will get you into a girls pants out here, but rest assured you aren’t a big man just because you have the money. You are paying for a girl to pretend to be interested in you and you can’t get less masculine than that.

Personally I prefer to go to bed with those that are genuinely interested in me, not what I can give them. I’d rather not devalue myself to some dollar signs.

Maybe that’s what it comes down to, that these men can’t get laid without the exploitation of a fragile economy and its people.

It doesn’t get any better either – these men are under this warped rationale that they are doing these girls favors.

“They need this money.”

Sure, but they don’t need your dick inside of them for you to give them money, do they? If you really want to help, how about a little less exploitation and a little more compassion and understanding.

It’s all about what they can get out of it, while they themselves complain that these girls only want one thing. A bit hypocritical if you ask me. Perhaps it’s time to look in the mirror.

62b15dec772e1c51e1c6fcbcc5c52b245bf29a8143e84ecc689e79c424b52de2

If you asked me what I thought of prostitution or prostitutes I’d say that it is just fine and I hold no hate for prostitutes.

How could I?

Some of these girls are supporting their entire families with what they do. It may not be glamorous, but taking care of your family by any means necessary is quite respectable on some level.

Many of these girls have children given to them by runaway foreigners to take care of, and any good mom is going to want a decent life for their child.

I’ve met several of these women in my time here. Their reasons for doing what they do are all different; some don’t feel they have a choice, and some legitimately enjoy what they do.

When the choice is to live either in poverty or make two times the amount one might make in a week per day, it’s easy to understand why so many resort to this line of work.

I don’t despise all sex tourists either. It would be unfair to say that all these men are ungrateful arrogant piles of wrinkled skin, as some are just lonely old men passing time until they find love.

You’d have to sift through a lot of horrible men to find them, just as you might have to sift through a lot of horrible girls to find a great one.

What we have here is two sides of a coin, doing the same things to each other, both blaming the other side. Heads or tails, you lose.

So there you have it. Sex may bring tourists and it may bring money, but it also brings in the kind of tourists that spit on the people and the land of where they go.

Fact of the matter is, it’s supply and demand.

ITAINT_GONNA

If there wasn’t a demand, there wouldn’t be a supply. I don’t think prostitution is going away anytime soon, no matter how illegal it is, and if you are going to go to a country to break their laws to get your jollies, at least start showing their people, culture and land some respect.

Remember that it takes two to tango.

Foreigners and locals, start learning how to trust in each other, and start giving each other a reason to trust in you as well. We will only achieve change together.

Dear Filipino Ladyboys,

So you want to look like or be a woman… that’s great and all, but try to smell like one too.

When you smell like dude butt and that wafts into my nostrils when I walk into Western Union. Not acceptable.

Typhoon Henry Is Hot For Typhoon Glenda

I miraculously survived Typhoon Glenda after an intense and grueling 12  hours without power. With my cuddling companions “pillow” and “pillow mistress” steady by my side and in between my legs respectively, I managed to comfortably slip into a slumber for most of it – despite the chaos ensuing outside. Now that you have been made aware of my sleeping habits, let me just say that even though I wasn’t in direct line of the storm, that I will never again complain about weather back home. I’m not entirely sure how these tiny little Asian miniatures managed to stay on the ground with all the extreme winds, considering that I almost got knocked over a few times myself during my admirable quest to find some decent nachos. nachosmeme Typhoon Glenda has caused over an estimated 600 million Philippine Pesos worth of damage. Which is approximately $13,753,590 ‘Merica dollars. For a country with such a poor economy and fragile infrastructure I can only imagine that the political powers that be will be struggling not to buy as many bottles of champagne as they are used to. Laymans terms: That’s a lot of money, and governmental blind eyes aren’t pretty anywhere you go. Hell, no blind eyes are pretty… have you seen those things? Yuck. roses-are-black-stevie-wonder So far, 20 have been announced dead, and 5 are missing thanks to Typhoon Glenda  and wouldn’t you know it, another typhoon, this time named after a guy – is following close behind like a creepy stalker/rapist. Typhoon Henry is set to affect the Philippines within 24 hours of Glenda’s departure, though this one is not aiming to hit the country directly. Side-note: I figured out why they call it “Rainy Season”

Typhoon Glenda Threatens To Knock Out My Power

I haven’t officially started blogging or even launched this site yet, but for those of you that are already on the newsletter. This one is for you.

Manila is going to be hit with a Category 1 Typhoon and to honor those constantly plagued by anger issues it is named after a woman. For those that don’t know, I currently live on the island of Boracay situated south of where the center of the storm is predicted to hit.

That being said,Typhoon Glenda (Rammasun) will be effecting us here in “paradise” as we are only an hour flight from Manila.

351dd2e6978fda3070e2288bd6dacef3

This will be the worst Typhoon to affect the Philippines since “super typhoon” Yolanda (Haiyan). Also the first Typhoon to directly hit the capital in 4 years.

If I suddenly disappear it’s because I either got blown away from having lost so much weight or we are out of power.

Don’t worry about me, I probably wont die.

Maybe.

Besides…

WTF is The Traveling Donkey Show? (No donkeys will be molested…probably)

Let’s answer the question that all the cool kids have been wondering about. Set down your bongs and pipes and listen up.

What is The “Traveling Donkey Show”?

I’m sure that some of you are thinking and or hoping that it could quite possibly be a performance derived from Tijuana where a magnificently beautiful donkey gets some well-deserved fellatio for being mistreated and used for entertainment.

Sorry Pedro, no donkeys will be pleasured during the filming of the show. Well, there are no immediate plans for such things anyways. I’ve learned to never say never. There’s always the chance that I’ll lose my mind and go Tom Green on everyone.

g1328003558943872517

Anyways, The “Traveling Donkey Show” is about my travels across the world.

Through YouTube and Blogging I will let you in on my crazy adventures. Not only to share tips and guides with you, but give you something new and exciting as well.

There are a lot of blogs to read and traveling shows out there for you to watch, but there’s not much separating them from one another.

So in an effort to divide myself from the pack I don’t plan on keeping things formal or proper.

If you are expecting something family friendly or politically correct, look elsewhere. I am aiming for everything to be just as entertaining as it is educational.

Two of my favorite series in the entertainment industry have been Jackass, and its offshoot show… Wildboyz. While I am not trying to imitate or recreate either of those shows, you may see some inspiration from them.

Between myself having been called an “ass” by misinformed twats quite possibly suffering from a mild case of autism and my love for those shows, I figured that the name The “Traveling Donkey Show” was aptly suitable.

Sorry, that wasn’t very funny for any mildly autistic people in the audience, but then again, nothing is.” –Tim Minchin

There will be cussing, crude humor, pranks, and even probably some nudity. I’m going out of my way to find the grossest, weirdest off-beat things I can in the countries that I travel to.

Sorry to all the prudes living in their bubbles. I can’t please everyone. Besides, you suck anyways…

To equally disappoint those looking for a complete and utter freak show, I’m sorry to say that it won’t all be vile and disgusting. I plan to visit many beautiful locations, and do as many unique activities as I can in the surrounding areas.

I will share with you my scuba diving trips, drunken nights of debauchery, crazy foods, hikes, the surrounding culture and if you’re really lucky… you might even get to see me in a thong so you can make fun of my average sized package.

How would you like to see me dressing up as a Lady and going to hang out with the lady boys for a night while I hit on random foreign passersbys?

Oh the possibilities…

Is the world even ready to see me in a thong?

The correct answer is no, but It’s going to happen. When it does, please send me detailed descriptions of any nightmares you may have.

Here is to our adventures and stupidity.

For a more elaborate look into who I am and what I am doing check out the About page.

PS – If Autism is a cause that you truly care about, take the time that you would spend bitching at me for making fun of it and instead donate to Autism Speaks.

I just donated 25$ dollars. It’s money well spent.
